 blade thickness - the cutting edge of the clipper is thicker and longer than that of nail cuticle nippers;

Spring - a clipper needs a more powerful and stronger mechanism to cut nails of any thickness.

Let's figure out how to properly use nail cuticle nippers and nail clippers.

How to use nail cuticle nippers

Cuticle nail nippers are a tool that is used to carry out a classic edged manicure and cut off burrs. Well-sharpened nippers do a great job with tough cuticles and remove pterygium - the thin skin underneath. To avoid injuries and cuts, you need to be very careful when performing a trimmed manicure at home.

In addition to nippers, you will need a cuticle pusher or an orange stick, an antiseptic, a bowl of warm water, bath salts or liquid soap. If desired, you can use a cuticle softener (remover).

Disinfect manicure tools with an antiseptic and proceed to cuticle treatment.

First, soak your hands in a bath of water and soap (or salt) for 10 minutes.

Check to see if the cuticle is pushing back. If it hardly moves away from the nail, hold your hands in the bath for a few more minutes.

Once the cuticles have softened, dry your hands.

You can apply a cuticle remover on the skin around the nails, wait the time set according to the instructions and rinse.

Then arm yourself with a pusher or an orange stick and push back your cuticles.

Using the pointed tip of the instrument, carefully clean the skin under the cuticle (ptegyrium).

Take the nippers and cut the cuticle in an arc, going around the base of the nail. If you hone the technique, you can cut the skin with a single "ribbon" - this is what you should strive for. Try not to trim too much skin to avoid injury.

Apply cuticle oil and hand cream.

Now you know how to use nail cuticle nippers.

How to use nail clippers (clipper)

There is absolutely nothing complicated here, and it's definitely much easier than wielding nail cuticle nippers. Follow these steps:

  1.  Take the nail clippers in your working hand.
  2.  Bend the pincer lever.
  3.  Place the free edge of one of the nails on your other hand between the two blades of the nail clipper. The blades should be perpendicular to the nail plate, and the body of the tool should be parallel to it.
  4.  Adjust the position of the tool so that you achieve the desired length of the nail and do not cut too much.
  5.  Press the lever with your thumb. Trim the protruding corners of the nail in the same way, giving it a rounded shape.
  6.  Repeat the procedure until all nails are treated.
  7.  "Hone" the shape of the nails with a nail file.

Good manicure nail clippers easily cope with hard nails, so they are suitable for pedicure, but in this case the size of the bookmaker needs to be selected more. In addition, this tool does not damage the fragile brittle nails due to the fact that sharp-faced blades cut them with one exact movement.

How to choose good nail clippers

Consider what criteria high-quality nail clippers should meet.

 Material

The best nail clippers are made of corrosion-resistant medical grade steel. This material makes the tool reliable and durable.

Pens

They ought to fit serenely in the center of your hand. It’s good if the handles have notches, silicone pads or anti-slip ribbed relief.

 Blades

Good nail clippers have hand-sharpened blades for sharpness and high cutting power. The blades should close tightly when the lever is pressed.

 Size

Large nippers (for example, 18 mm) are designed for pedicure or cutting hard and rough nails. Smaller nippers (up to 12 mm) are suitable for manicure and soft nail plates. For convenience, you can use the rule - pick up pliers the width of a thumbnail.

Mechanism

The spring element should easily and firmly close the blades. For good manicure nail clippers, the lever is pressed smoothly, without jerks and extraneous sounds. Of course, the reliability of the mechanism is tested in operation, but you can guarantee yourself the purchase of high-quality wire cutters by choosing a product from a trusted manufacturer.
