In 2024, the existing four traditional flagship models will be joined by another one, which can be described in two words as the "flagship of flagships". If sources are to be believed, the new model, which will be the company's future iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, will appear on the market under the name iPhone 16 Ultra. Despite the fact that it is at least a year and a half before the announcement of the iPhone 16 series, information about the Ultra version already periodically appears on the Internet. Therefore, we at Gadgetpage.ru decided to collect in one article everything that is known about the new iPhone 16 Ultra to date.
Functions
Insiders immediately indicated that the iPhone 16 Ultra will be the most expensive and, accordingly, multifunctional smartphone in the series. Its capabilities will go beyond what the Pro models can offer. So far, we don't have much information about what features the upcoming Ultra version of the iPhone will have, but thanks to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, we already know something about it.
In particular, Gurman previously said that the iPhone Ultra will receive a more modern camera, a faster chipset and a larger display. It is also possible that the iPhone 16 Ultra will be the first iPhone model that will be devoid of any ports, USB-C or Lightning, as well as all physical buttons.
Apparently, the iPhone 16 Ultra will be modeled after the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple's high-end smartwatch model. Like the Apple Watch Ultra, the Ultra version of the iPhone will have unique niche features that set it apart from other models and make it more expensive.
Asking price
If Apple does eventually introduce the iPhone 16 Ultra, it will almost certainly be significantly more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is currently the most expensive version of the iPhone to date, starting at $1,099 for the base configuration. The iPhone 16 Ultra is expected to be sold alongside the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, rather than replacing them, and will therefore be priced differently.
Launch date
Insiders call 2024 as the likely date of launch of the first Ultra version of the iPhone, which means that it will be part of the iPhone 16 series, as would be considered normal to debut in the fall of the following year. Yet, it is conceivable that Apple will delay the send off until the debut of the iPhone 17 family or sometime in the future.
